Research Scientist - Metabolite Identification
The Metabolism and Pharmacokinetics group (MAP) is seeking a highly motivated research scientist to join the Metabolite Identification group in Horsham.
The primary responsibilities of this position include the design and performance of in vitro and in vivo drug metabolism studies for the identification of metabolites and the characterization of biotransformation pathways, and the application of mass spectrometry technology for metabolite identification. This person will work closely with project teams from the respiratory and gastrointestinal disease areas to help guide drug design with respect to removing metabolic liabilities.
A minimum of a B.Sc. degree (or equivalent qualification) is required in pharmaceutical, biological, chemical or any other relevant programs with a strong experimental metabolism / analytical background. Experience with chromatographic separation and structural elucidation of small molecules by LC-MS/MS analysis and in vitro ADME assays such as liver microsome and hepatocyte incubations are required. The ability to work independently and as part of a team, along with excellent communication skill is essential. The ideal candidate will also have experience in using modern LC-MS/MS instrumentation (e.g. API 4000, LTQ-Orbitrap) for drug metabolism applications. A demonstrated knowledge of metabolic pathways and previous experience working with medicinal chemists to guide synthetic strategies would also be an advantage.
